Summer Ranch Programs

The Lazy E Ranch offers many programs to fit all your horsemanship goals - whether it’s learning the very beginnings or how to train a horse - we’ve got something for you! Unsure of what level you should sign up for - Click Here!

Vaulting: Ranch Campers can come back down to the barn for our 1 hour vaulting elective! Vaulting is a great way to gain confidence and improve balance - and it’s fun!!

 

Trail Rides - $12

Explore the beautiful wooded trails at Lake Ellen while riding a friendly horse.

 

Trail Riders Elective - grades 6-8, coed - $80 - Beginner - 1 ½ hrs per day - Open to Tracker campers

Trackers can hit the trail each day to explore the many beautiful wooded trails of Lake Ellen Camp while learning Western Trail Horsemanship. You'll meet for an hour and a half each day for a short lesson in Trail Horsemanship and then take a different trail ride each day! No prior experience required. Limited Space Available.

 

 

Pony Express Elective: grades 2-3 coed - $75 - Beginner - 1 hour

Homestead & Explorer campers can enhance their classic camp experience with the Pony Express Elective. Join us for an hour each day to learn how to care for and ride a friendly horse. Space is limited to 6 campers per week to ensure a quality program and safe environment.

 

 

Rough Riders Elective: grades 4-6 / coed - $90 - Beginner 1-½ hours

Trailblazer & Explorer campers with a love for horses can sign up for the rough riders horse elective to learn the basics of western riding, grooming, saddling and horse care while hanging out with new friends and friendly horses. Space is limited to 8 campers per week.

In Level 3 you can look forward to learning many new things that will equip you to be a confident horse owner and better horseman. Hands on clinics will include Games on Horseback, Trail Riding Safety, Basic Vet Care, Bits & Saddle Fitting and much more!

Prerequisite: Lazy E Ranch Level 2 or equivalent

Cost: $385

In Level 1 you will begin your journey as a horseman by becoming confident around and on a horse. Hands on clinics in the following areas will take place each day: Ground skills, Horse Care & Grooming, Horse sense & psychology, Riding Basics and Trail Ride Safety. No prior experience required.

In Level 2 you will continue to expand your knowledge of the horse and it's nature. Hands on clinics will include Trail Obstacles, Horse Sense & psychology, Games on Horseback, Vet Care, and Trail Riding Safety.

Prerequisite: 1 years Lazy E Ranch Camp or equivalent.

Greater challenges await you In Level 4. You will not only be improving your riding but also the horse you ride and handle. As you advance your horsemanship this week you will learn not only how to ask your horse for advance maneuvers but the fundamentals of how to teach it to them also. Prerequisite: Lazy E Ranch Level 3 or equivalent.

Wrangler In Training is a two-week experience that will challenge you in more ways than one. Ground skills, horsemanship instructor and trail guide training clinics will equip you to assist the LEC Wrangler staff. Through daily ranch chores and personal Bible studies you will become a part of a ministry team that helps younger kids to be impacted with Jesus Christ through a quality horsemanship program. Returning WIT's look forward to advancing not only your horsemanship but also your leadership skills. No prior horse experience required.

During a Pack & Trail horse camp you really get to experience the best of both worlds - camping and horses! It'll be the journey of a lifetime! You'll camp out at Northpoint Hill with your cabin mates and horses. Learn the ropes of camping with horses while still enjoying the classic camp activities: swimming, crafts, archery, and more. Highlights include campfire cooking, all day trail ride around Loon Lake, and much more! Prerequisite: 1 year Lazy E Ranch Camp or equivalent.

Pack & Trail @ Northpoint (Onsite)

The Hiawatha State Forest provides the backdrop for campers to enjoy horseback riding in a rustic camping environment. Campers will travel from Lake Ellen Camp to Pine Marten Run on Sunday after their arrival. They will then spend four days exploring the wooded trails of the Hiawatha State Forest. Before departing for Pine Marten Run, campers will receive a short but thorough lesson on riding and handling horses on the open trail. Highlights of this week include an all day trip around Pine Marten, daily devotions, campfire cooking and more. This may be your best week of the summer yet! Prerequisite: 1 year Lazy E Ranch Camp or equivalent. Check-in for this camp is 1 pm sharp on Sunday, we plan to leave for Pine Marten Run on Sunday, August 14th at 3pm.

Are horses your passion? Do you have the desire to understand the horse from its point of view? Along with Biblical teaching, we will discuss equine safety and behavior, bit & saddle fitting, training techniques to prepare for showing & advanced maneuvers. Campers may bring their own horse or use one of ours. More information and applications for bringing your own horse to camp is available from the camp office. No experience required.
