The name of this game is slaughter. Each team is trying to get the ball in their goal while the other team is trying to take it away and make their own goal. If you push or pull someone out of bounds they are out of the game. Every one must stay on their knees at all times.  Almost anything goes in this wild game.

During the closing program the Homestead campers showed posters they had made during the week. These posters showed what God had made on each of the days of creation.

What a  beautiful sunrise this morning. It is a great reminder of these verses Lamentations 3:22-23  It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Here is another picture of our first snow storm of the season. My 5 year old son said “look dad winter is here in the middle of fall.” I do believe he is right.

It snowed here all day on October 12, 2009. I took this picture of the dining hall the following morning. It sure was beautiful with the white snow and the colored leaves still on the trees.

Three, two, one blast off and water going every where as the kids track how high and far their bottle rocket went. This is a favorite even with the adult leaders.

Both our 456 and our Junior High Retreat made bottle rockets out of soda bottles. Once they put on the wings and did a little design work off they went to the launch pad. The kids then filled the bottle half full of water then air. They had a ball seeing how high and fall their rocket would go.

Thirty plus ladies were in attendance for our fall Scrapbooking Retreat. The dining hall was full of tables and supplies. Many of these ladies burnt the mid-night oil working on their creative memories books. Shirlene Cropp led the ladies in a morning and evening devotion. Keep your eye out for a spring scrapbooking retreat the end of April.

This is Northpoint. It overlooks Loon Lake and houses the Trailblazer Girls (4-5 grades). This hill is just covered with raspberries and the girls pick them to put them in their pancakes.

All the roads and trails are just beautiful this time of year. This road leads to Northpoint which is about a 10 minute walk.

The campers staying out at our outpost camps have running water. They run up to the pump and pump it. This is a very popular program for our 4th and 5th grade campers. The view is beautiful especially this time of the year.

Each week at our closing program for parents we give the campers an opportuity to share what God has done in their lives. What a blessing to hear of the life changing decisions to follow
Christ. Already this summer we have had 18 campers put their faith and trust in Christ and 11 camper made a rededication. We praise God for opportunity to share God's Word and see the spirit of the Lord draw campers to Himself.

God is so good in providing helpers with a servant heart. I know these guys were stretched this week. Boy did they sleep well each evening. When you get a chance come by for a visit and see some of their handy work on the retreat center. It is just beautiful!

God has blessed LEC with men and women who volunteer their time, gifts and talents to assist us in many of our neeed projects. Klaus Zielke just finished 6 long days working on the facing the Retreat Center with rock. He now is working on putting tile in the newly renovated showers at the dorm. We are grateful for the leadership of Klaus and inspiring others to join him year after year to come to Lake Ellen to serve the Lord. Klaus sees this work as a mission worth supporting and prays for that God will bless this work with many campers this summer. Our hats go off to our volunteers for without them we would not be able to accomplish many of our needed projects.

Once a year Lake Ellen hosts a quilting weekend where ladies spend the entire weekend working a project that teaches them technique. They spend hours cutting and sewing and having a ball. At the end of the weekend each lady goes home with a sense of accomplishment and proud of their handy work. The ladies enjoy a special devotion led by Shirlene Cropp after breakfast and dinner.

We have room for more so next year make sure you mark your calendar for this event.

Check the smile on this camper. What a joy it is working with kids. They have personality and you never know what they may do. We are anticipating having 100’s of campers join us for a fun filled week. Camp is a safe place where they can be themselves, try new things and are open for God to speak to their hearts.

Each year Lake Ellen hires 40-50 high school and college students to work at camp. These are the top students who go a week of training and are well prepared to take care of your camper when they arrive. Many of our staff makes a serious sacrifice financially to work at camp for the summer. We are looking forward to another great summer.
